The ladies 1’s sit in second place in the league with 5 wins out of 5. Sitting just behind Gateshead 1’s on goal difference (playing 1 game less than Gateshead!) The team has scored 16 goals and conceded 0… yes that’s 0… in 5 games! In their recent game the ladies broke the impressive if not strange looking start to the season, winning 1-0 then 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 but skipped the 5-0 scoreline to beat Newcastle University 6-0 in their most recent fixture. With the team recently promoted into the league this season, it really does show the hard work thats being put in by everyone involved. The ladies have also entered the EH Women’s Tier 3 competition, the tier above the amazing semi final feat of last season. In the first round they are drawn to play Newcastle 3’s on Sunday 5th November. Current top goalscorer is Kait with 7 with both Amelia and Aislin on 3. There are some huge games coming up for the ladies 1’s… playing 4th and 1st in the league!
Saturday 4th November - Darlington 1’s (Home 12pm)
Sunday 5th November - Newcastle 2’s (Cup Away)
Saturday 11th November - Gateshead 1’s (Away 10am)
The mens 1’s have had a mixed start to the league campaign. Despite losing a few key players, the youth talent in the club has stepped up, and after initially struggling to fin the pace of the league the latest game shows we are on the up. An opening day defeat against the current bottom of the league was an annoying start but a bounce back win over Tynedale away from home balanced it out. After 2 tough losses in back to back weeks, a narrow 2-1 loss at home and then an 8-2 trouncing away… the lads have bounced back with a 7-3 demolition of Jesmond. The side currently sit in 5th place. Like the ladies 1’s the mens 1’s have also entered the cup this year and are also in Tier 3. The side have been drawn away to league table toppers in Newcastle 1’s and play this coning Saturday. Current top goalscorer is Luke on 6 with Gary on 3 close behind. Some big games await the mens 1’s in the coming weeks…
Saturday 28th October - Newcastle 1’s (Cup Away 11am)
Saturday 4th November - Newcastle Medics 1’s (Away 12:30pm)
Saturday 11th November - Newcastle 1’s (Home 12pm)
The ladies 2’s have had a good start to the season, and sit 3rd in the league, with some very comfortable wins along the way. Clean sheet wins with 4, 5 and 6 goals scored shows that the side can keep clean sheets at one end as well as put it in the net the other. The team looked more gelled now than they were during a few weeks of mixed results. A draw followed by a comeback victory and then a loss to table toppers Redcar, gave the team the ammo to come back fighting. Their recent win of 6-0 shows that the team are back on track, and with different names on the scoresheet each week, goals can come from anywhere. With clean sheets being held by the strong defensive unit including goalkeepers Lucy and Zac, this has helped the midfielders and forwards to progress up the pitch. Debbie leads the way with 6 goals, followed by Freya on 3 and a whole host of players on 2. The team have some big games coming up, most notably against 2nd in the league…
Saturday 4th November - Stokesley 2’s (Home 10am)
Saturday 11th November - Games Club (Away 10:30am)
Saturday 18th November - Durham City 3’s (Away 12pm)
The mens 2’s have started very much like the 1’s, a mixed start to the campaign. 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses sees the lads sit in 5th place having scored 12 but also conceding 12. Now the side looks more settled with the usual players now regularly playing the side will look to kick on after the weeks break. Recent results against Redcar 1’s and Stockton 4’s show that the team are capable of scoring more than the opposition and will look to bounce back from the most recent defeat when the break is over. A tough match awaits next, with Newcastle 2’s sitting top after a 100% start to the season. Top goalscorer is Callum with 6 but goals elsewhere are spread amongst players still in the team as well as those progressing to the 1st team. The team have some big games coming up, most notably against 1st in the league…
Saturday 4th November - Newcastle 2’s (Home 2pm)
Saturday 11th November - Jesmond 2’s (Away tbc)
Saturday 18th November - Newcastle Medics 3’s (Away 2pm)
The ladies 3’s have had their first game of the season, a massive moment for the ladies section of the club. From only a few years ago there was one side struggling for a team each week, now we sit in a position of having enough for 3. Sadly with the team being in the tyne league this season games have been hard to fulfil for a young side where travel is an issue. The one game they have played was a great encounter that had the lot, goals, exciting play and great determination. We hope that more ladies will be encouraged to play on the back of this game and look to be playing the games below coming up…
Saturday 4th November - Tynedale 1’s (Away 12pm)
Saturday 11th November - Newcastle 5’s (Home 10am)
Saturday 18th November - Morpeth 3’s (Home 10am)
The mens 3’s set of this season with development in mind. A chance for our younger players in the section to experience adult hockey, some for the first time. This has proven valuable experience for some who are now pushing for places in the 2’s. The side fair much better at home, winning 5-2 and 3-0 whilst results away prove a different challenge. The experience offered by some more senior players in the team are invaluable and without them each week the younger players have nothing to learn from so we thank them enormously! Toby sits top of the goalscorer with 3, followed by Chris with 2. The team have a couple of weeks off and restart with the following games…
Saturday 11th November - Durham City 3’s (Home 2pm)
Saturday 18th November - Hartlepool 2’s (Away 3pm)
