The Saturday Round-up 14/10

The ladies 2’s kicked off the weekend with a cracking 5-0 win over Darlington 3’s. After a goalless first half the team sprung into gear for the second half and dominated play, with 5 different players on the scoresheet, it showed that the team are playing well together. A solid defensive display throughout enabled them to keep the clean sheet. Another home game this week when they face Redcar 2’s, looking for more goals and the all important 3 points.

Following the ladies 2’s match we had the historic first ladies 3’s match of the season. Highlighting the fantastic growth of the ladies section over the past few years, the team started out with a match against Jesmond 1’s. A great game followed where the score line was a little harsh in the end, but 2 goals scored is a great achievement. We hope that more games will follow in the not to distant future.

The ladies 1’s then rounded off the home action with a resounding 6-0 win over Newcastle University 5’s. Goals came in the form of captain Aislin (2), Amelia and Kait (3). The team look better going forward each week and are showing this with the goals. However a lot of credit must go to the defence and Bea in goal for yet another clean sheet… 5 games in a row! The 1’s now have 2 weeks off due to a bye and slip week and will be back in action against Darlington 1’s soon.

The mens 1’s were the only mens team playing this week due to bye weeks for the 2’s and 3’s. A trip to play recently relegated North Shields 1’s and a chance to bounce back from the previous weeks loss. However the team didn’t really show their full potential and went down 8-2, with goals coming from Gary and Luke. The lads move on and look to win away at Jesmond 1’s this weekend.
